The Innovative Health Iniziativa (IHI) has announced its intention to continue to offer a pioneering approach applicant-driven also in call 12, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2026. Call 12 will be structured around the five specific objectives of the Strategic Agenda for Research and Innovation (SRIA), namely:
- Improve understanding of the factors that influence health and the development and treatment of certain diseases;
- Integrate fragmented healthcare research and innovation efforts by bringing together the healthcare industry and other stakeholders. This will enable the development of tools, data, platforms, technologies, and processes that will in turn facilitate disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management, especially in areas of unmet public health need.
- Demonstrate the feasibility of integrated healthcare solutions that leverage diverse technologies from different sectors and address the needs of the people who will use them, such as patients and healthcare professionals.
- Maximize opportunities to collect health data and use it in research and care, while complying with current privacy legislation.
- Develop methods to assess the value of innovative and integrated healthcare solutions for patients, healthcare providers, healthcare professionals and organizations, and other stakeholders.
Proposals must respect the IHI philosophy. In other words, they must:
- respond to a need dissatisfied public health;
- require a public-private partnership ambitious, large-scale and cross-sectoral;
- have impacts clearly described on society, economy and science;
- take into account the nature pre-competitive of IHI projects;
- contribute to Strengthening the competitiveness of the EU healthcare sector and the implementation of relevant EU policies.
From a technical point of view, the IHI 12 call will be a standard call single stageApplicants must ensure that at least 50% of the project costs are covered by grants. in-kind of IHI industrial members and any contributing partners.
The call text is currently being finalized and a draft will be published on the IHI website in October.
