La EU Agency for Space Programme (EUSPA) has opened for applications two Horizon Europe calls which aim to stimulate the development of the EU downstream space market and support the uptake of space-based solutions.

EUSPA's mission is to promote the market adoption of EU space data and services, offering businesses, academia, and public organizations the opportunity to develop applications that can benefit the European economy and society. The fourth Horizon Europe call focuses on two key priorities: promoting the space data economy and strengthening European resilience.

The call 'Space Data Economy' (HORIZON-EUSPA-2026-SPACE-02-51) aims to exploit the opportunities arising from space data, particularly those from Galileo, EGNOS, and Copernicus, to develop innovative applications in priority areas such as clean energy, climate adaptation and environmental impact reduction, green financing and insurance services, and the creation of liveable and sustainable cities. The proposal must include a business plan, involve both public and private entities, and demonstrate a clear potential for the commercial exploitation of space technologies. EUSPA has allocated a budget of EUR 10 million with the possibility of financing five projects.

The second call, 'Innovative Space-Based Applications' (HORIZON-EUSPA-2026-SPACE-02-52) aims to support applications using Galileo, EGNOS, Copernicus and/or GOVSATCOM as a means to strengthen the EU's security and resilience. With an allocated budget of EUR 5 million for four projects Selected applicants must have a robust plan to bring their crisis management and security solutions to market. Priority areas include: security and crisis management; critical infrastructure; and innovative commercial applications. To this end, EUSPA requires all consortia applying for this topic to include beneficiaries: at least two crisis management or security organisations from two different EU Member States.
