The CEF programme will launch next 5 February a new call for proposals in the energy sector, with a deadline set for March 12, 2026.
The call falls within the scope of CB RES, whose projects promote cross-border cooperation between Member States, or between Member States and third countries, in the planning, development, and cost-effective exploitation of renewable energy sources and facilitate their integration through energy storage facilities. The aim is to contribute to the Union's long-term decarbonisation strategy, complete the internal energy market, and improve security of supply.
The call Cross-border renewables (CEF-E-2026-CBRENEW) is divided into two topics:
- CEF-E-2026-CBRENEW-WORKS: Cross-border renewable energy works projects. Activities permitted under this topic include the purchase, supply, and implementation of components, systems, and services (including software); development, construction, and installation activities related to a CB RES project; acceptance of installations; and initiation of a CB RES project.
- CEF-E-2026-CBRENEW-STUDIES: Cross-border renewable energy studies projectsStudies under CEF Energy include the activities necessary to prepare for the implementation of cross-border renewable energy projects, such as preparatory, mapping, feasibility, evaluation, testing, and validation studies, as well as any other technical support measures. A study may include an in-depth analysis and exploration of a project's risk factors, such as safety, technical, environmental, regulatory, economic, or legal aspects, to determine whether and how the project should be implemented.
An overall budget of €150 million is expected.
