EIT: €70 million in funding for STEM projects

EIT Higher Education Iniziativa (HEI) will open a call for proposals towards the end of 2025. HEI is a joint EIT community initiative aimed at recognizing higher education institutions as key players in regional and European innovation ecosystems.

The call includes two themes:

  • Il topic 1 will contribute to the European Union Strategic Plan for Skills and Education STEM with the aim of promoting innovation and the development of entrepreneurial skills in these sectors. The consortia will have to strengthen training on innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property management. Furthermore, they will have to establish new partnerships between university and industry, create support structures for STEM entrepreneurial talents, improve the ability to bring the STEM research on the market, as well as ensure diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.

 

  • Il topic 2 will invite the European University Alliances (EUA) to further develop their strategic cooperation with the EIT ecosystem. Consortia will have to outline an action plan for a vision of innovation long-term, support the training in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property management. All this is aimed at strengthening the capacity of institutional innovation of the EUA and the ability of alliances to support the entrepreneurial talent and promote the transfer of research market.

The following will be able to participate:

  • Higher education institutions;
  • European University Alliances;
  • Businesses;
  • Associations;
  • Research institutions;
  • Public bodies;
  • Intermediate organizations or associations representing higher education institutions;
  • Social enterprises and NGOs.

In particular, each consortium must include minimum five partners, Of which at least three higher education institutions in three different Horizon Europe countries, a business partner and an other non-HEI partner (e.g. NGOs).

The expected budget is €70 million, with an endowment of €2 million per project.
