The European Commission, through a recent event dedicated to Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage, presented the results achieved by European projects engaged in the development of technologies for cultural heritage. Among these, advanced solutions 3D digitization, Extended Reality (XR) e Artificial Intelligence, along with tools for the management, enrichment and interoperability of cultural data.
These technologies are contributing to the creation of a European cultural heritage data ecosystem, capable of supporting institutions, researchers, and professionals in the digitization, documentation, and valorization of cultural heritage.
Within this European vision oriented towards shared digital infrastructures, the role of Public administrations is central: they are called upon to promote the adoption of innovative solutions, foster interoperability, and support the use of digital tools for the management and use of heritage.
Heritage Smart Lab (HSL), the European Digital Innovation Hub for the cultural and creative sector co-financed by the European Commission and MIMIT, supports public bodies in this process, facilitating the adoption of advanced digital technologies through:
- Innovation Procurement (PCP/PPI): to identify innovative needs and acquire technological solutions not yet present on the market;
- Public-Private Partnerships (PPP): to develop complex digital infrastructures and services through collaborative models.
