La European Partnership Towards Zero Emission Road Transport (2ZERO), within the framework of Horizon Europe – Cluster 5 'Climate, Energy and Mobility', has opened two new calls with the main objective of supporting the ecological transition of road transport.
The 2Zero partnership, formally launched on 23 June 2021 thanks to the successes of theIniziativa The European Green Cars Iniziativa (EGCI: 2009-2013) and the European Green Vehicles Iniziativa (EGVI: 2014-2020) promote and facilitate pre-competitive research and innovation in road transport mobility within the European Research Area.
The calls in question are the following:
- HORIZON-CL5-2026-05-D5-01: Large-scale demonstration of Heavy-Duty Battery Electric Vehicles (HD BEV) towards long-haul logistics operations (2ZERO Partnership), (IA)
Maximum contribution per project: EUR 34M for 2 project to be funded.
This call aims to increase the share of heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (HD-BEVs) tested and deployed in operations by logistics and transport operators involved in the demonstrations, as well as to demonstrate their efficient integration into logistics fleets and operations along various segments of European corridors. This lays the foundation for a strengthened ecosystem along the entire HD-BEV industrial value chain in the EU. - HORIZON-CL5-2026-05-D5-02: Energy-efficient software-defined EVs (2ZERO Partnership), (IA)
Maximum contribution per project: EUR 16M for 1 project to be funded.
This call is dedicated to actions that further explore the potential of road vehicle technologies at the component and subsystem level, offering the potential for combination and improved user benefits at the embedded system level. The goal is to further exploit these developments with solutions. Software Defined Vehicle.
The deadline for submitting proposals is April 14, 2026.
