Cancer Prevention and Treatment: New Opportunities for Research Projects with Horizon Europe – Mission Cancer

The 2026 calls for proposals have been published within the framework of Horizon Europe – Mission Cancer which aims to “improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030, through prevention and treatment, and to ensure that people affected by cancer, including their families, live longer and better”.

Specifically, the calls are:

HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-01: Virtual Human Twin (VHT) Models for Cancer Research. RIA, max. €9 million per project, to fund 4 solutions.
HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-02: Microbiome for early cancer prediction before disease onset. RIA, max. €15 million for a single project.
HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-03: Pragmatic clinical trials to optimize immunotherapeutic interventions for patients with refractory tumors. RIA, max. €8 million per project, 3 solutions to be funded.
HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-04: Earlier and more precise palliative care. RIA, max. €5 million per project, 3 projects to be funded.
HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-05: Improving the mental health of young cancer survivors through the European Digital Cancer Patient Centre (ECPDC). IA, max. €7 million to fund a single project.
HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-06: Developing a cancer research capacity-building program with and for Ukraine. CSA, max. €5 million to fund a single project.
HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-07: Improving the quality of life of elderly cancer patients. RIA, max. €6 million per project, 5 solutions to be funded.
