Sustainability is not sustainable without technological innovation.
Starting from this axiom and exploiting its ability to generate high value-added development paths for technology companies Iniziativa has been supporting for several years the development and exploitation of the APA – Air Pollution Abatement – technology developed by ISCLEANAIRA lever to make sustainability truly sustainable.
A technology capable of reducing smog and CO₂ directly in urban air and in industrial applications is not just an environmental solution, it is a competitive lever for businesses and the local area.
APA technology demonstrates how deep-tech solutions developed in Italy can generate concrete and scalable applications in the most complex urban and infrastructural contexts. This is happening in one of the most polluted areas in the world, Chennai, India, where APA has improved the air quality index by over 67% in 6 months, contributing to environmental improvement without the use of filters or consumable chemicals.
Recognized since 2020 as Best Available Technology (BAT) at European level, APA has already highlighted significant results in international contexts of high environmental criticality and today represents the basis of new industrial evolutions through SUBwAIR, an innovative startup from Campania, which develops applications in the civil sector with the aim of improving air quality in high-traffic environments and supporting greater system efficiency.
In this path, Iniziativa supported Is Clean Air in structuring the industrial project that led to the development of SUBwAIR, supporting the identification of industrial partners – the group Navest – and the managerial skills needed to market the technology, as well as access to and management of public financing tools to support the development program, subsequently funded by the Campania Region.
As highlighted in the article by Ivo AllegroCEO IniziativaThe SUBwAIR case demonstrates how environmental innovation can generate long-term industrial and employment benefits and help position Italy as an international laboratory for the development of advanced air quality solutions and for making sustainability truly sustainable. Experiences like this demonstrate how environmental innovation can transform into opportunities for industrial growth, competitive positioning, and the development of new applications for high-tech companies.
