Calls are now open to participate in the LIFE program

Starting April 21, 2026, applications can be submitted for the new calls for proposals under the LIFE Programme, the European financial instrument created to support projects related to the environment and climate.

The 2021-2027 programming period has a budget of approximately €5,4 billion, divided into four sub-programmes: Nature and Biodiversity; Circular Economy and Quality of Life; Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation; and Clean Energy Transition.

Specifically, the open calls are as follows:

LIFE projects to address ad hoc legislative and political priorities (PLP) with an overall budget of EUR 18 million, the deadline is set for the September 22, 2026:

LIFE-2026-PLP-NAT-ENV: Projects on legislative and policy priorities in the fields of nature and biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life;
LIFE-2026-PLP-ENER-GOV: Multilevel dialogue on climate and energy for the implementation of the Governance Regulation and the post-2030 energy and climate policy framework;
LIFE-2026-PLP-ENER-COMPLIANCE: Support service for suppliers and retailers on ecodesign and energy labelling compliance.

Clean energy transition with an overall budget of EUR 85.5 million; the deadline is set for the September 16, 2026:

LIFE-2026-CET-BETTERRENO: Energy efficiency solutions: promoting building renovation through effective markets and tools;
LIFE-2026-CET-INDUSTRY: Supporting the clean energy transition of European industry and businesses;
LIFE-2026-CET-RENEWHC: Strengthening national regulatory frameworks for efficient and renewable heating and cooling in existing buildings;
LIFE-2026-CET-BUILDSKILLS: National Skills Platforms for Energy Efficiency in the Clean Energy Transition;

LIFE-2026-CET-PDA: Assistance for the development of projects for investments in sustainable energy;

LIFE-2026-CET-ENERPOV: Alleviating household energy poverty in Europe;
LIFE-2026-CET-ENERCOM: Facilitating cooperation between energy communities;

LIFE-2026-CET-POLICY: Towards effective implementation of key legislation in the field of sustainable energy;
LIFE-2026-CET-EMPOWER: Scaling up the deployment of smart and clean energy solutions and making them accessible in EU cities;

Climate Action – Standard Action Projects (SAPs) with an overall budget of EUR 60 million; the deadline is set for the September 22, 2026:

LIFE-2026-SAP-CLIMA-CCM: Climate change mitigation;
LIFE-2026-SAP-CLIMA-CCA: Adaptation to climate change;
LIFE-2026-SAP-CLIMA-GOV: Climate Governance and Information.

Circular Economy and Quality of Life – Standard Action Projects (SAPs) with an overall budget of EUR 85.5 million; the deadline is set for the September 22, 2026:

LIFE-2026-SAP-ENV-GOV: Environmental Governance;
LIFE-2026-SAP-ENV-ENVIRONMENT: Circular economy and zero pollution.

Nature and Biodiversity – Standard Action Plans (SAPs) with an overall budget of EUR 173.5 million; the deadline is set for the September 22, 2026:

LIFE-2026-SAP-NAT-GOV: Nature Governance and Information.

Technical assistance for SIP/SNAP preparation, with an overall budget of EUR 1 million; the deadline is set for the 22 September 2026:
