Proposals are now open for four new calls under the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking to accelerate quantum technologies by enhancing Europe's capabilities in navigation, computation, and standardization.
EuroHPC JU is Europe's High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking that aims to develop a world-class supercomputing ecosystem while strengthening Europe's scientific excellence and industrial strength.
The four calls in question are the following:
- A major challenge in quantum sensors for inertial navigation – HORIZON-JU-EUROHPC-2026-NGC-04
The main objective of this call is to promote the development of quantum navigation systems for use in environments without GNSS signals or similar contexts. The total indicative budget available for this call is €2 millionThe deadline is set for On 14 January 2027.
- Technologies for large-scale photonic quantum computing platforms – HORIZON-JU-EUROHPC-2026-PQC-06
The call aims to establish a strategic European initiative to develop scalable, modular, and interoperable photonic quantum computing platforms. Proposals must provide credible solutions to two identified obstacles: the lack of deterministic, highly efficient, and loss-tolerant photonic entanglement architectures; and the absence of an integrated and standardized control stack combining photonic hardware, firmware, and system software. Proposals must be guided by a startup with proven experience in the field of photonic quantum computing. The total indicative budget available for this call is €10 million, with a deadline set for January 26 2027.
- Standards for quantum technologies – HORIZON-JU-EUROHPC-2026-STAND-05
The ultimate goal is to support and accelerate the development and adoption of European and international standards for quantum technologies, including the definition of pre-normative standards and concrete technical specifications relevant to the EU. The total indicative budget available for this call is €1 millionThe deadline for submitting applications is set for On 19 January 2027.
- Quantum Machine Learning – HORIZON-JU-EUROHPC-2026-QML-07
The call aims to promote research at the intersection of quantum computing and AI, with the ultimate goal of unlocking new capabilities for data processing, optimization, and modeling. The indicative total budget available for this call is €6 million, with expiration date set for On 28 January 2027.
