Proposals can now be submitted for the 2026 call under the programme Connecting Europe Facility for transport. The programme is the EU's main funding instrument for the development of efficient, sustainable, and interconnected trans-European transport networks. It has an EU budget of €25 billion for the period 2021-2027 to co-finance the trans-European transport network.
Under the 2026 call, CEF Transport has made €1,1 billion available to build and modernise transport infrastructure in the EU and CEF-associated countries, namely Ukraine and Moldova. The selected projects will contribute to the completion and modernisation of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), while also contributing to more sustainable, smart, interoperable, and resilient mobility.
The CEF Transport 2026 call concerns the TEN-T network in the following sectors:
- Railway projects on the TEN-T core network;
- Inland waterway projects on the TEN-T core network;
- Electrification of the road transport and airport sectors;
- Electric charging infrastructure in sea and river ports and equipping ships for the use of alternative fuels;
- Adaptation of transport infrastructure at the external borders of the Union;
- Digitalization of road transport;
- Military mobility.
Specifically, the 2026 calls are as follows:
- Core Network Projects:
- COREGEN call, €350 million for two topics: inland waterways; railways;
- CORECOEN call, €260 million for a railway topic;
- Military mobility:
- Call MILMOB, €130 million for a topic on military mobility;
- Sustainable and multimodal mobility:
- Call SUSTMOBGEN, €200 million for a topic on European maritime space and inland ports;
- Safe and secure mobility:
- Call SAFEMOBGEN, €20 million for a topic on external borders;
- Smart and interoperable mobility:
- SIMOBGEN call, €20 million for a topic on the digitalization of road transport;
- Alternative fuel infrastructure:
- AFIFGEN Call, €130 million for a topic on road and air transport.
This call for proposals accepts applications from one or more Member States, international organisations, public or private bodies established in an EU Member State or in a CEF associated country.
Candidates are required to submit their proposal by October 6, 2026 at 17:00 CET (Brussels time).
