Innovative Health Iniziativa Call 13: Approximately €85 million to address immune-related diseases in older adults, reduce animal testing, and promote early-stage healthcare innovation.

The Innovative Health Iniziativas has launched the thirteenth call, HORIZON-JU-IHI-2026-13-two-stage, which focuses on topics such as accelerating healthcare innovation through networks, the reducing the use of animals in drug safety studies , Decoding the immunological basis of aging- and immune-related diseases.

IHI is a partnership between the European Union and European industry associations representing the pharmaceutical, medical technology, biotechnology, digital health, and vaccines sectors. It aims to translate healthcare research and innovation into concrete benefits for patients and society, ensuring that Europe remains at the forefront of interdisciplinary, sustainable, and patient-centered healthcare research.

A budget of €84.8 million has been allocated for the thirteenth IHI call. This is a Research and Innovation Action.

The topics of the call are:

  • Topic 1: A network to power the next wave of European healthcare innovation – HORIZON-JU-IHI-2026-13-01, whose maximum financial contribution from IHI JU is €35 million. The indicative in-kind contribution from industrial partners is €10.7 million. The indicative in-kind contribution from IHI JU contributing partners is €4.3 million.
  • Topic 2: An AI-based toxicology model and framework to support exemptions from the requirement to include a second species in drug safety studies – HORIZON-JU-IHI-2026-13-02, whose maximum financial contribution from IHI JU is €9 million. The indicative in-kind contribution from industrial partners is €7.3 million. The indicative in-kind contribution from IHI JU contributing partners is €100.000.
  • Topic 3: Decoding the Immunoscience of Age-Related Immune-Mediated Diseases - HORIZON-JU-IHI-2026-13-03, for which the maximum financial contribution from IHI JU is €9.2 million. The indicative in-kind contribution from the industrial partners is €9.2 million.

Legal entities based in all Horizon Europe associated countries, including Canada, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and South Korea, are eligible to participate in the call.

The thirteenth call has the following deadlines: the 8 October 2026 for the short proposal and the 21 April 2027 for the complete proposal.
