Automotive: Over €931 million for Innovation Agreements and Mini-Development Contracts

The new plan of support for the automotive supply chain, defined by the Prime Ministerial Decree of 10 June 2026, programme for the period 2026-2030 total resources equal to approximately 1,35 billion euros, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of companies and supporting the technological transition of the sector.

Of these resources, in addition 631 million euro will be used to finance research, development and innovation projects through the instrument of Agreements for innovation, in accordance with the provisions of the ministerial decree of 31 December 2021.

More 300 million euro will finance investment programmes in the automotive supply chain of an amount less than 20 million euros, through the instrument of Mini Development Contracts.

The projects must contribute to the development of advanced technologies for sustainable, autonomous, connected, intelligent, and safe mobility, in line with European decarbonization and emissions reduction objectives in the transport sector.

Eligible initiatives may involve the development, engineering, testing, and production of new vehicles and mobility solutions, as well as more efficient power and propulsion systems, components, and advanced technologies.

Furthermore, support will be given to industrial diversification and reconversion projects towards strategic technologies requiring high research and development intensity, including those with potential dual-use applications, provided they are characterized by concrete technological or functional interoperability with the sustainable mobility sector.

The full applicability of the measures will be defined by subsequent implementing provisions.
